Credit Control Manager

The Role:

Reporting to the Head of Customer Services, the Credit Control Manager will be responsible for leading the credit control function, ensuring effective and timely collection of cash and building strong relationships key internal and external stakeholders to ensure that credit processes are adhered to and payments are made within agreed terms. We are currently recruiting for an experienced Credit Control Manager who is confident, a natural leader and someone who is eager to be hands on and drive change and efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership:

  • Day-to-day management of the credit control team, ensuring collection targets and objectives are met within department timescales and monthly KPIs.
  • Develop and implement credit control policies, procedures, and strategies to minimize outstanding debt and debtor days.
  • Work with the Finance Director to identify and implement process improvements related to the collection process.
  • Create and maintain strong, strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance collaboration, build trust, and drive sustained success.
  • Hold regular meetings with Sales Account Managers and the Customer Service Manager to review team performance, address process issues, and develop solutions.

Team Management:

  • Monitor and measure workload while identifying external influences that impact the team's performance, proactively finding solutions to mitigate issues.
  • Develop and train the credit control team, providing ongoing support, regular 1-2-1 reviews, performance and absence management, and promoting engagement and well-being.
  • Manage and reduce aged debt, improve cash flow, and enhance ledger profile in line with internal credit policy.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to resolve credit-related issues efficiently.
  • Oversee the Ledger Assistant, ensuring the end-of-month process and bank reconciliation are completed accurately.
  • Manage account reporting and allocation across the team.

Credit Control Best Practice:

  • Contact companies regarding outstanding debt and follow up on payments.
  • Address credit control queries via phone calls.
  • Minimize duplication issues by coordinating with customer services and investigating discrepancies efficiently.
  • Amend invoices manually when incorrect details are found.
  • Resolve outstanding old debt (3 months+) by addressing ongoing issues delaying payment.
  • Send out statements at the beginning of each month.
  • Allocate and transfer payments to the correct accounts as needed.
  • Handle Sales Manager and Directors’ accounts within Posturite, offering tailored support for key accounts

  • Adept at using financial software and highly proficient excel and data analysis skills

Hybrid Working:

While our Head office is a place to connect, collaborate and celebrate with colleagues, we recognise that flexibility around where you work is just as important. This role is based at our head office in Berwick. Training will also be required to take place in predominantly in the office at Berwick. Once your training has been completed, hybrid working pattern can be discussed to ensure they meet business needs and role requirements. There are activities and meetings that you will need to support in-person held within the office.
